In Los Angeles, police used cherry pickers to pluck Occupy protestors from the trees. That’s appropriate—they’ve cherry-picked Occupy as a protest to crack down on as opposed to, say, a Tea Party rally. A cherry picker! We told you that police were using military equipment and tactics. Now it seems they’re also using farm equipment.
Speaking at a New Hampshire college, Rick Perry said “Those of you that will be 21 by November the 12th, I ask for your support and your vote.” The voting age is 18, for those of you who missed the 26th Amendment. I knew Republicans were trying to restrict voting, but this is getting out of hand. Amazingly, Perry squeezed another major gaffe into that one sentence. He mentioned November 12th as election day. For one thing, the general election is scheduled for November 6th, not November 12th. Second, that date will be meaningless to Rick if he doesn’t win the nomination, and New Hampshire’s primary election is January 10th. Congratulations, Rick—you just wrongly told most of your audience they’re too young to vote, and sent the rest of them to the polls on the wrong day. I have some advice for Republicans—do NOT put Rick Perry in charge of “g et out the vote” efforts.
The New York Times is out with an investigative piece showing that Newt Gingrich’s “consulting” business is nothing but lobbying, pure and simple. The first clue? We’re talking about Newt Gingrich. Newt has been trying to portray himself as a visionary who offers his clients ideas. Newt, we’ve seen your ideas, and there’s no market for them. None of his clients gave a crap what Newt Gingrich knew. All they cared about was who he knew. Newt always tries to hide behind the fact that he’s not a registered lobbyist. That just tells you that we have to be a lot tougher about who has to register as a lobbyist. If Newt Gingrich isn’t a lobbyist, then nobody in Washington is a lobbyist. And that’s pretty much what Republicans would like you to believe.
Ginger White, the woman who had the affair with Cain, says Cain “consistently” gave her money, but it wasn’t “sex for cash.” Yes, and what Newt Gingrich did was not lobbying. Ginger, just say you were being paid to have sex. That’s better than having people think that you were having sex with Herman Cain because you wanted to.

Is Mitt Romney sinking? I hope not. If Mitt’s hair hits the water, we’re going to have a major oil slick. Mitt’s poll numbers are plummeting, while Newt Gingrich’s are on the rise. What a slap in the face to Mitt! He might not be the best candidate, but right now he’s losing to the worst candidate. I don’t use the term “worst” lightly when talking about Republicans. The other candidates are potential disasters, but Newt has the longest track record of actual disasters. Amazing. This summer, Newt Gingrich looked like a dead man walking. Now his campaign is going very well... but he still looks like a dead man. Newt always looks like a corpse that was pulled out of a lake. Every time I watch an episode of CSI, I think—hey, is that pasty, bloated mass of flesh Newt Gingrich? No, it’s just this week&r squo;s victim.
Mitt Romney got pretty worked up during a tough interview at Fox News. I know, there seem to be two things wrong with that statement—Mitt Romney getting worked up, and Fox doing a tough interview. Mitt should have clued in when he saw that he was going to be getting questions from Brett Baier, instead of getting a gentle, yet erotic massage from Sean Hannity. (And where was Sean Hannity? He was busy giving a sensual massage to Newt Gingrich. I didn’t watch all of it. I was afraid Newt was going to get a 'happy ending'.) Baier started listing some of the more notorious flip-flops in Mitt’s endless catalogue, and Mitt got annoyed. Mitt! Take a step back. Remember, there are two sides to everything. Oh wait, you’re the last person I have to point that out to. Mitt snapped at Baier “Your list is just not accurate.” Actually, Mitt, the list is quite accurate. It’s far from complete, but it’s accurate. At another point, Mitt crossed his legs in a manner so effeminate that I thought for a second he was married to Michele Bachmann. I don’t know if it’s possible for a guy to cross his legs that hard without crushing his you-know-whats. What does it tell you when Mitt is able to do that with no problem at all? Newt Gingrich is making the mandatory “kiss the ring” pilgrimage to meet Donald Trump at Trump Tower on Monday. Trump Tower is a large building, but I don’t know if it’s large enough to hold both of those egos. Maybe they should meet at Madison Square Garden. I know I would pay to see that, especially if they went 15 rounds with no gloves on.

The unemployment numbers for November are out, and they look good... unless you’re looking at them through Mitt Romney-colored glasses. The unemployment rate fell to 8.6 percent, the lowest rate in two-and-a-half years. That’s good news... and bad news. Don’t worry, it’s all good news for you. It’s only bad news if you’re a Republican candidate for president.
Mitt Romney used those unemployment figures to attack President Obama. Mitt, before you use something to attack with, take a look and make sure it makes an effective weapon. It’s a little hard to go after Obama for the crappy jobs numbers when the jobs numbers are good. You might as well attack Obama for getting rid of Moammar Gadhafi. Oh wait, they tried that too. Mitt said Obama will “have a hard time putting perfume on this pig.” That’s not a pig, you idiot. It’s more like Obama is bringing home the bacon. In 2008, the economy was crumbling, and John McCain kept saying “the fundamentals of the economy are strong.” Now the fundamentals of the economy are actually getting better, and Mitt Romney keeps saying that things are crumbling. The Republican candidates are always a lap behind.
Meanwhile, Newt Gingrich is doubling down on his plan to use poor children as janitors. Give Newt this much—when he comes up with a ridiculous idea, he sticks with it. Of course, Newt flip-flops, but he only changes his mind when he was previously for a good idea, like cap and trade, tackling climate change, or the individual health insurance mandate. Now Newt wants kids just to “mop the floor and clean the bathroom.” I think Newt believes that the objection to children being forced to work as janitors is that some people didn’t want them doing complicated tasks like calibrating a furnace. This is Newt’s way of saying “Don’t worry, we won’t have these kids doing anything that requires training. They’ll just be scrubbing toilets.”
Ron Paul has released what is being described as a “brutal” ad going after Newt Gingrich. The thing about going after Newt, though, is that if you just tell the truth, it’s going to be brutal. They say the truth hurts. And it doesn’t hurt anyone quite as much as it hurts Newt Gingrich.

Americans are not that dumb! I don't understand why people can't figure that out Nanna. This happens every year. Obama has not done a thing to help out our economy. In fact, he gave the oil drilling jobs to Brazil I think after the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster. Then America once again bailed out Europe, and they are in a mess over there due to their 17 plus trillion in debt, and we are following right in their footsteps with over 15 trillion in debt now, and then our very own government and the Feds are handing over another bailout to the European nations. America has got to get their act together. We are soon going to become a third world country (Cloward and Piven Strategy) if we do not stop all this wasteful spending and handing out money to foreign countries that need to fix their own problems. We need to fix America's problems, not be the world's piggy-bank.

I think he's the only one that can fix a lot of America's problems, and cutting government pension plans is a big problem in America. I don't agree with everything that Ron Paul stands for, but he does make a lot of sense. Unlike Gingrich, he's a flip-flop politician that''s a politician whore selling himself out to the highest bidder imo. He takes money in exchange in doing favors for Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac and that is just wrong. Gingrich is a sellout, and imo, not a good candidate to be running a McDonald's.

Exactly, Nana. These numbers are ALWAYS given out in November and December like things are really improving. Except come about the 2nd week in January when the "return all your stuff" time is over, those people get laid off and we are right back to where we started. Nothing has changed, unless you count getting worse as change.

Herman Cain is apparently considering stopping his campaign after allegations surfaced of an extramarital affair that went on for 13 years. And the Republican candidate most likely to benefit is…wait for it, wait for it…Newt Gingrich!
Yes, the same man who had two extramarital affairs—including one with his current wife that was going on about the time he was trying to impeach Bill Clinton for his relationship with Monica Lewinsky—is apparently okay to GOP voters, while Cain, increasingly, is not. Of course, there have also been sexual harassment allegations swirling around the Cain camp for weeks. But it wasn’t until the news of the affair was made public that talk began of Cain possibly ending his campaign. (Cain has denied both the claims of sexual harassment and that he had an affair with Ginger White; he also appears to be reassessing what “reassessing” his campaign really means.) There are many reasons why voters might shun one and embrace the other. The anti-Romney sentiment is likely so strong that GOP voters will simply overlook anything. The sexual harassment allegations may have taken too much of a toll. The flavor-of-the-month mentality of the GOP campaign may just be cycling its way to Gingrich. And then there is Gingrich’s long history in Washington, which is apparently making him increasingly attractive to older voters willing to look past his personal foibles, despite the conventional wisdom that D.C. insiders are out of favor in the Republican party.
But most likely, it’s that when it comes to their current and would-be political leaders, American voters who have long been cited for their ability to forgive also have a very good capacity to simply forget. Not only has Gingrich had two extramarital affairs; he was the first Speaker of the House to be disciplined for ethical wrongdoing. He resigned from the Speaker position in 1998 when faced with a rebellion from members of his own party. And Gingrich’s supporters have conveniently forgotten that their candidate pushed a federal health-insurance mandate in the early 1990s as an alternative to Hillary Clinton’s proposals. This forgive-and-forget mentality is especially the case for a presidential candidate who has not held public office since 1998. He’s now married to the congressional aide he had the last affair with, and has re-established his conservative bona fides, at least to some, through his successful moneymaking ventures. Although some recent embarrassments could haunt him in this campaign, such as the $1.6 to $1.8 million in fees he reportedly received from the controversial mortgage firm Freddie Mac, so much time has elapsed since he was in office that the shock voters might have felt about the Speaker of the House’s ethical or extramarital transgressions 15 years ago have been papered over by other recent scandals. Voters’ collective consciousness, fueled by the latest media firestorm, seems already to have forgotten about Gingrich’s Tiffany expense accounts and his luxury Greek cruise in the middle of a presidential campaign. So it’s not surprising that decade-old extramarital affairs, whatever the reason, have been forgotten as well. In today’s world, political leaders can count on their images being shaped not just by what they’ve achieved, but by when the most recent scandal comes along to make their own transgressions look relatively benign in context. As the historian candidate should appreciate, political pasts—like history—are being constantly remade.

in an effort to reach agreement, Democrats presented a plan with significantly lower revenue than in Simpson-Bowles. Relative to their base lines, the Democratic plan would have raised about $450 billion, almost $1 trillion less than Simpson-Bowles.
There has been much misinformation about the Republican tax proposal. The Republican claim to have raised $300 billion in “new tax revenue” is misleading. In reality, their willingness to raise $250 billion of that revenue was conditioned on Democrats agreeing to make permanent more than $800 billion of the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, which are scheduled to expire at the end of next year — thereby locking in $550 billion of tax breaks for the top 2 percent of earners. Their proposal was further conditioned on reducing tax rates while dramatically cutting various deductions. Analyses by the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation and other independent groups indicate that the Republican plan to drop the top rate from 35 percent to 28 percent, while slashing deductions and preserving the current low rates on capital gains, would very likely increase the tax burden on many middle-income families and give the superwealthy a massive tax cut.
Overall, the Republican tax proposal fell nearly $2 trillion short of the revenue raised in Simpson-Bowles and, in comparison, increased the deficit by $500 billion.
While zealously guarding tax breaks for the highest earners, Republicans refused a Democratic proposal to temporarily extend and increase the payroll tax holiday for all working Americans next year. As a result, in January every U.S. worker will face a tax hike — at a time when consumer demand is likely to remain weak and the economy fragile. Republicans also rejected Democratic proposals to use some of the savings generated from our deficit-reduction plan to finance immediate job creation efforts and extend unemployment compensation to people out of work through no fault of their own.

Now, Now Blue.. if you can forgive Clinton for his many affairs and sexual harrasments you can forgive Newt.
One thing I like about Newt, other than he is a hellofalot smarter than BO.. is he has nothing to hide.. He admits his wrong doing, repented and I am sure he is forgiven.
The Dems did not want to crucify Clinton over his "personal" affairs.. I am sure that everyone can say the same for Newt.
We need someone like him to turn this country back on the right track.
I like Newt.. I think he would be a great President. Its down to Newt or Romney at this point, IMO..
Either way.. BO has got to go!

The second, more obvious, Gingrich vulnerability is electability. Given his considerable service to the movement, many conservatives seem quite prepared to overlook his baggage, ideological and otherwise. This is understandable. But the independents and disaffected Democrats upon whom the general election will hinge will not be so forgiving.
They will find it harder to overlook the fact that the man who denounces Freddie Mac to the point of suggesting that those in Congress who aided and abetted it be imprisoned, took $30,000 a month from that very same parasitic federal creation. Nor will independents be so willing to believe that more than $1.5 million was paid for Gingrich’s advice as “a historian” rather than for services as an influence peddler.

But one of Gingrich's most ill-considered remarks came this week when he appeared on CBN and insisted that his past two extramarital affairs were caused by an overabundance of patriotic devotion. Asked about his infidelities, he said:
There's no question at times of my life, partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country, that I worked far too hard and things happened in my life that were not appropriate. And what I can tell you is that when I did things that were wrong, I wasn't trapped in situation ethics, I was doing things that were wrong, and yet, I was doing them. Gingrich was maintaining that he had committed adultery because he had worked too hard. And he had worked too hard because he loved America too darn much. (Is it merely a coincidence that he cheated on his first two wives after each had contracted a serious illness?) With this self-serving comment, Gingrich further damaged his credibility -- a week after he botched what seemed to be the launch of his presidential campaign. (Or was it the launch of an presidential exploratory committee? Or just the launch of a website?) Gingrich's my-love-of-country-made-me-do-it-twice spin brought to mind Woody Allen. Not simply because of the veteran filmmaker's scandalous personal behavior. During the 1992 campaign, Gingrich tried to turn Allen into anti-Democratic ammo for the GOP. That year, Allen ended his 12-year-long relationship with actress Mia Farrow, and the news emerged that he was in a relationship with Soon-Yi Previn, a 22-year-old whom Farrow had adopted years before when she was married to conductor André Previn. The Allen-Farrow-Previn affair became a major tabloid scandal, as Allen and Farrow bitterly fought over custody rights involving their three children and hurled nasty accusations at each other. Gingrich sought to tie this ugly matter to the Democrats, saying, "Woody Allen having non-incest with a non-daughter to whom he was a non-father because they were a non-family fits the Democratic platform perfectly." We can leave it to smarter moral arbiters to decide whether hooking up with a young woman who is the adopted daughter of your partner is worse than cheating on and then leaving not one but two sick wives. But when you compare Allen's and Gingrich's respective explanations, it's no contest. Asked in 1992 about his affair with Previn, Allen gave a direct answer:
I'm in love with her ... The heart wants what it wants. There's no logic to those things. You meet someone and you fall in love and that's that. This hardly excused his behavior -- fulfilling a heartfelt desire can be rather selfish, destructive, and wrong. But his statement was no excuse: he had done what he did because he wanted to. Pure and simple. He wasn't trying to weasel out. He was confessing: I acted on my passion. Compare that to Gingrich's explanation: he was overworked, due to his passion for the United States, and inappropriate "things happened." Gingrich was justifiably derided on cable television, Twitter, and websites for trying to wrap his infidelity in the flag. A former Gingrich staffer called me and howled in laughter: "This guy thinks he can be president?" After all, if the pressures of being a congressman and, then, House speaker caused Gingrich to become a serial wife-cheater, what might the demands of the presidency do to the poor fellow? (Bordellos beware!) People do make mistakes. They can be judged for them -- and voters (and film-goers) are free to decide what personal actions matter. Explanations, too, can be judged. When it comes to explaining the ways of the heart (or another organ), Woody Allen has been more honest than Newt Gingrich. That's not saying much for Allen, but it is for the guy who thinks he can be president.
